Motherlove Herbal Company Announces Status As Compact For Safe Cosmetics Champion
November 30, 2011 - Laporte, CO -- Motherlove® Herbal Company (www.motherlove.com) announced their inclusion in the list of "Champion" businesses announced today by The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics (www.safecosmetics.org). Out of the more than 1500 companies who signed the Safe Cosmetics Compact, only 321 were fully in compliance with all the goals of the Compact, which earns those companies "Champion" status. An additional 111 companies made significant progress, earning them "Innovator" status.
"Motherlove has been manufacturing organic herbal products for over 20 years," said Kathryn Higgins, CEO and founder of Motherlove Herbal Company. "We have always made safe, toxin-free products and been proud to publish complete ingredient lists. Every product we manufacture is rated a zero (the lowest rating) on Skin Deep, The Safe Cosmetics database."
"Congratulations to Motherlove Herbal Company for being a Champion and for demonstrating that it's possible to make personal care products that far exceed current safety standards in the United States. A growing number of consumers are seeking personal care products that do not contain hazardous chemicals, and our report shows that making safer products is not only possible, but is also part of a successful business model," said Mia Davis, organizing director of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and coordinator of the new Safe Cosmetics Business Network.
"As the second generation of Motherlove, I'm especially proud to see companies recognized for their commitment to safe products," said Silencia Cox, Marketing Director of Motherlove. "Parents looking for safe and effective products do have options. There's still a lot of work to do, and parents need to be activists every day for safer products for their whole family."
"We've definitely seen more and more parents aware of the issue of unsafe body care products," said Higgins. "The work by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics has been instrumental in raising awareness and helping parents find safe products more easily."
