Goat's Rue is here!
 Motherlove now has Goat's Rue liquid extract in a vegetarian capsule. We have also concentrated the Goat's Rue and Special Blend liquid extracts so they work effectively with fewer doses. For your convenience, we have converted the dosage of all our liquid extracts from number of drops into teaspoons. You will find this dosage on each bottle under 'Suggested Use'.

Nurturing Life Foundation
Thank you everyone! Because of your increasing support and purchases of Motherlove products we are now able to support others. In May 2005 Motherlove established the Nurturing Life Foundation to give back to others in need. The Nurturing Life Foundation gave a donation to the Mountain Park Environmental Center for scholarships so that underprivileged kids could have their first experience in nature - camping, hiking, identifying plants, animal tracks and star gazing.
The Nurturing Life Foundation also gave a donation to La Leche League's Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program. Originally designed to reach low-income minority populations who traditionally have had limited access to breastfeeding information and support, this program "has led women from welfare to work by providing education, communication, and professional breastfeeding support ... to unite those interested in optimum health for women and children by increasing the rate and duration of breastfeeding," according to La Leche League.
The program has also been very successful in training mothers who have breastfeeding experience and who are committed to promoting breastfeeding in their communities, helping to increase the breastfeeding rates among their peers.

Herb of the Quarter: Goat's Rue
 Goat's Rue has traditionally been used in Europe to increase milk production. In the 1800's French dairymen noted that goat's rue when fed to cows, increased their milk production 35 to 50%. The French Academy and several French physicians have since affirmed goat's rue to be a powerful galactogue. Rudolph Weiss, MD states, "the lactagogue action has been known for a long time. Goat's rue is an effective and safe lactalogue, increasing not only the volume of milk, but also the proportion of milk solids, so that it is not a matter of diluting the milk, but a genuine increase in production."
According to David Hoffman in his Holistic Herbal, "it may stimulate the development of the mammary glands." Goat's rue is now increasingly popular in the United States as lactation consultants realize its value to help adoptive mothers, and women with polycystic ovarian syndrome or breast reduction surgery to successfully breastfeed.

As a lactation consultant in private practice I have used More Milk and More Milk Plus for years to help my clients with their milk supplies. When my daughter, Lia adopted a baby, she began using More Milk Plus and pumping. After a month, when she was getting some milk I decided to have her try Goat's Rue to see if it would help in developing her glandular tissue and duct work as would naturally have happened had she conceived.
Within a couple of days she called form work to say, "Mom, I am engorged!! My breasts are large and full. I'll have to get some cabbage leaves for the engorgement." She used the cabbage leaves for a day and we were both pleased by the increase in her milk production. She is still nursing her 17-month-old twins, Julian and Renata and is most grateful to Motherlove.
