Introducing Motherlove’s new Shatavari and Malunggay supplements for supporting lactation!

March 02, 2015

We are thrilled to introduce two new members of Motherlove's family of herbal supplements for supporting lactation:  Shatavari and Malunggay.

At Motherlove we listen carefully.  We listen to moms, who tell us which herbs work for them.  We listen to lactation consultants, who can tell us what they recommend for increasing milk supply.  And we listen to everyone's desire for the highest quality, certified organic, non-GMO, and cruelty-free products.

In recent years we've heard increasing interest in Shatavari and Malunggay to support lactation.   We've especially heard it from lactation consultants, who've asked us to carry it because they trust our meticulous attention to creating the highest quality herbal products.  And we are happy to oblige with our two new products!

So, what are Shatavari and Malunggay, and how will they complement Motherlove's extensive line of products to support lactation?

Shatavari is a Himalayan herb long used in Ayurvedic medicine to increase milk supply.  Shatavari is well known as a female rejuvenative tonic and a hormone balancer. Its nickname “one who possesses 100 husbands” is for its ability to promote longevity. Known for its phytoestrogen properties, this herb can help with a variety of issues including menopause, increased fertility and breast milk production. We're proud to bring you Shatavari as a liquid extract, which is highly concentrated and is quickly absorbed.  Motherlove's Shatavari is available as a single herb extract, in both a USDA certified organic liquid extract tincture, and in 60 and 120 count concentrated liquid in a capsule.  Shatavari can be taken alone or in combination with our popular More Milk Plus or More Milk Special Blend

Malunggay is a plant common in the Philippines which has also long been used to support milk supply.   It's known as the “miracle tree” for its overall nutritive benefits and ability to remedy a variety of health concerns.  Malunggay leaves are a traditional food in the Philippines and other areas of Asia, and are packed with essential nutrients like vitamins A, B vitamins, C, K, and beta-carotene plus many minerals including high levels of iron and calcium.  Motherlove's Malunggay is available as a single herb extract, in both a USDA certified organic liquid extract tincture, and in 60 and 120 count concentrated liquid in a capsule.  Malunggay can also be taken alone or in combination with our popular More Milk Plus or More Milk Special Blend.

Are these herbs right for you?  We know that mothers respond differently to galactagogues, and that certain herbs are better at targeting the variety of causes of low milk supply.  For mothers who are not responding as desired to our best selling More Milk Plus or More Milk Special Blend, these new herbs may be a good alternative or addition.  Women who cannot take fenugreek, an ingredient in many of our other products, may also wish to try these new fenugreek-free products.

We're pleased to add variety to Motherlove's product line with our new Shatavari and Malunggay supplements.  As always, we'll continue to listen, and we look forward to hearing what works for you!

Can the shatavari and malluggay be taken together to increase breast milk?

Not interested in taking fenugreek as it doesn’t seem to help me.
