Sponsoring the Great Cloth Diaper Change with Motherlove’s Cloth Diaper Safe Diaper Balm

April 12, 2018

For the past 8 years, the annual Great Cloth Diaper Change (GCDC) has been bringing families together to help promote the benefits of cloth diapering. In 2011, a Guinness World Record was set when 5,026 babies simultaneously had their cloth diapers changed at 127 locations across the world. In 2014 that record was beaten and the highest standing record was set when 8,459 babies were changed at 188 events in 18 countries - WOW!

While cloth diapering might not work for all families, they can be a great alternative for many moms and dads. If you haven't already noticed, Motherlove cares deeply for Mother Earth - we practice sustainability in everything we do. So of course, we love the idea of cloth diapering because it reduces a significant amount of waste that ends up going to the landfill each year. Did you know that over 27.4 billion diapers are thrown away in a given year? That’s a lot!

Motherlove is happy to be a sponsor of the Great Cloth Diaper Change by providing registered U.S. locations with samples of our cloth diaper safe Diaper Balm for each participant. Formerly known as Diaper Rash & Thrush, Motherlove’s organic Diaper Balm contains just 6 ingredients; extra virgin olive oil, beeswax, Oregon grape root, myrrh gum, yarrow herb, and calendula flowers. Our antifungal and antibacterial Balm is great for use between diaper changes on your baby’s bottom.

What makes our Diaper Balm cloth diaper safe? Well, we don’t use zinc oxide, that white paste that is commonly found in balms and ointments. The repetitive use zinc oxide will actually build up a moisture barrier on the cloth, therefore ruining the diaper’s ability to absorb. No one wants that to happen, which is why we are glad to be one of the best-selling cloth diaper safe balms available to families.

This year, registered locations will be meeting on Saturday, April 21st to beat the high standing record and of course, have a day of family fun! Fingers crossed that this will be a record beating year!
