Every year around this time, it seems appropriate to remind our customers how important good stewardship of the earth is to us. Sustainability is in everything we do, and here at Motherlove, Earth Day happens every single day of the year.
Within our Colorado community of Fort Collins, Motherlove participates in Trees, Water & People’s Carbon Offset Program. Our city’s ClimateWise Platinum level certification honors our voluntary initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce waste, save energy, and conserve water. We proudly hold a B Corporation designation, which is awarded to companies that use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems and meet higher standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. But there’s more!
From our pens to our packaging, all of Motherlove’s supplies are made from recycled or recyclable materials. We print our informational materials on 100% post-consumer recycled paper. We use low energy and motion sensor lighting in our facility, and we manufacture our products using energy generated by a solar array on our building’s roof.
Almost 99% of our waste escapes the landfill and finds a new purpose – making Motherlove a virtually zero waste to landfill business. Breaking it down, 35% of our waste is reused in the form of packing materials, 58% is recycled, and 5% is composted and put back into the soil. With only 1.5% of our waste going to the landfill, our goal for the coming is year is to make that 0%!
