Fenugreek, especially if taken in larger-than-recommended doses, can cause gastric upset or gassiness in the mother, and less likely, in the baby. In More Milk Plus, Motherlove blends fenugreek with fennel, a digestive aid, to help counteract this possible side effect. Also, fenugreek is not recommended for those with hypothyroidism who are on medication, as it may block the absorption of the thyroid medication. In rare cases, fenugreek can also lower blood sugar and cause breakthrough menstrual bleeding.

They are not cheap, but I think they are worth the price. Whether a placebo effect (because I'm less stressed about it) or not, I do think my supply is a little higher when I'm taking the 6 pills a day so I'm sticking with it. Anything helps when you're trying to pump at work! I keep them in my pump bag so I can take throughout the day easily.
